Rules and Regulations guide institutions and countries, and that is why these 6 Key Laws of Kenya are important for Employers. They bring order in any institution.

Employers manage people and their growth depend on the productivity of their workforce. Even though some organizations in Kenya are automating their services and production, these operations are directed by humans who are guided by these laws of Kenya.

The Constitution of Kenya, 2010 is one of the Supreme Laws of Kenya and no one is above it. It guides Employers on several issues that affect their employees one of which is the observation of our National Days.

The Occupational Health and Safety Act, 2007 is an important legislation for Employers and instructs them in several ways. Some of these include the size of workspaces for their workforce, hygiene that must be maintained and other basic provisions such as clean drinking water.
Most Employers complain about managing workforce and the Employment Act, 2007 gives a detailed breakdown on the obligations of both parties. It clearly outlines the consequences for nonadherence which makes it easy for operations and both parties if these Laws are implemented.

Work Injury and Benefits Act, 2007 is another Law of Kenya which guide Employer and Employee relations. It clearly states that Employees should report any hazards at the workplace, and not be the initiator. This Law also outlines the measures Employers should put in place to protect the welfare of their Employees/workforce and any other person within their premises.

The Labour Relations Act, 2007 in this video is the 5th of the Laws of Kenya and explains the relationship between Employers and their unionized Employees. It gives guidance on the registration of Trade Unions, Membership and its relation to Employers.

Labour Institutions Act, 2007 explains how these institutions are established, their roles, leadership and mandate. The responsibilities of the leadership of these institutions is clearly stated as well as their relation with Employers.

These 6 Laws of Kenya are important and any Employer who disregards them does so at their own risk. Understanding and adhering to these laws, and implementing their directives using good human resource practice support operations in any business and helps it to thrive.
