THE TRUTH ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE WITH WAR

Follow
Mike Horn

PRESS RELEASE:

Born in 1966, Mike Horn was between 18 and 20 years old during his mandatory military service, which ended in december 1986.
He only completed his mandatory military service and did not pursue a military career.
In that context, he was affected to the special forces, more specifically to battalion 101.
Batallion 101 was part of the official military forces affected to the Northern NamibianAngolese border, colead by Namibia and South Africa, aka SWAFT.

He served as a leutenant and was in charge of 36 people, including Namibian soldiers and exSwapo.
He was never the driver of an armed vehicle, unlike what the Swiss media, especially the RTS, have claimed with no proof.
Mike Horn did not decide on the missions himself. They were all assigned by his superior.
The engagament to the batallion linked to the war conditions was a doctrine dictated by his superiors and not Mike Horn himself.
He was on the frontlines in a context of armed conflict.

Mike Horn did not participate in the operation related to the Immanuel Shifidi's assassination on November 30th, 1986. His name was never put forward in the investigations started after this event or any other investigation.

Since the end of his mandatory military service, Mike Horn has refused to pursue a military career and has never been part of South African forces again.
After his mandatory military service, Mike Horn studied at Stellenboch University in South Africa for four years. It is only after those four years that he left to go to Switzerland.
Mike Horn has never tried to hide his military past. He clearly and honestly described it in his books. (Cf. en particulier : Mike Horn, Mike Horn Aventurier de l’Extrême, Paris, Editions du Chêne, XO, 2016, pp. 14 à 17 ; Mike Horn, Survivant des Glaces, Paris, Editions Michel Laffon, 2021, p. 134 ; Interview à M. Patrick Vallélian au Journal La Liberté, le 20 juillet 2002).
Mike Horn never supported the apartheid.
Mike Horn did not come to Switzerland to hide his military past: proof be made in the fact that his name was never mentionned in the official documents published at the end of the apartheid and linked to the process of national reconciliation (South African Truth and Reconciliation Campaign). These are public documents, free of access on the Internet: https://www.justice.gov.za/trc/index..... At the time, Switzerland was one of the only countries where SouthAfrican people were allowed to travel without a visa. It for this reason that Mike Horn chose Switzerland. Mike Horn clearly explained this in his books.
