If you've just picked up Cities Skylines and are struggling to build a thriving city, I’m here to help! In this series, I’ll help you build a thriving city, starting with the modest bones of a small town and slowly growing it into a megalopolis! Along the way, we’ll explore the game’s mechanics and I’ll share tips and tricks I’ve learned from my time with the game. I’ll also share how I design cities based upon my experience as a reallife city planner. This is an ongoing series that we’ll also use to explore new DLCs and Content Creator Packs as they are introduced to the game.

In today’s video, we’ll cover a number of topics including: how to start a city, laying out a basic grid, utilities, outside connections, zoning, progression and milestones, the development tree, city happiness, the city economy, rezoning, and city expansion. We’ll build our humble town to a population of 1,000 – building all of the services needed to support a city of that size.
