In August 2022 winters, we went to hike in the Southern Drakensberg near Underberg. It was an incredible experience hiking in strong winds, mist and snow. This is a short video of my experience in those magical mountains.

There's magic in the mountains of the Drakensberg, South Africa. It is a dynamic wonderland of river valleys, mountain streams, rugged cliffs, hiking trails and stunning scenery. In winter, the mountains are dusted with snow. The San Bushmen rock paintings at Giants Castle are another highlight of the area. It has some excellent hiking trails to fully appreciate the scenery and wildlife, which includes eland and majestic bearded vultures.
Right at the foot of the majestic mountains of the southern Drakensberg, Underberg is a little town that exudes a lot of charm. It has the kind of ethereal beauty that can only come from looming mountains, lush greenery, and the endless blue of African skies.
