A little movie of our fireplace. Unlike most fires that are intended to burn slowly for long periods of time, ours burns with a lot of wood, as fast as possible, then is choked up to contain the heat.. When winter is in full swing, we stoke it up with as much wood that will fit, 13 times a day. It burns very hot and fast in order to heat its large mass. The temperature of the door was measured at over 600 degrees. Don't bump against it!
