In 1999, Hyundai Motor Company embarked on its first steps into the global motorsports competition, the World Rally Championship (WRC), with the Tiburon (known as the Hyundai Coupe in some markets).

Behind this challenge was a wealth of expertise and technology accumulated through various domestic and international rally experiences.

We had the opportunity to interview Dongok Kim, a former research engineer at Hyundai who became a rally driver out of his sheer passion for cars. He shared the behindthescenes stories of Hyundai's WRC participation, from the Elantra to the Tiburon and the Accent.
