The Waltons Father’s Day. Ralph Waite’s portrayal of John Walton set a standard for TV dads. He became a role model for so many and led the family with love and a strong but fair manner. He had a unique relationship with each of his children. He supported John Boy (RIchard Thomas) and Jason (Jon Walmsley) in pursuit of their career choices in writing and music. Protected his daughters Mary Ellen (Judy Norton) Erin (Mary McDonough) and Elizabeth (Kami Cotler) and worked to guide all of them despite butting heads with the stubborn Ben (Eric Scott) and the dreamer Jim Bob (David Harper). His marriage to Olivia (Michael Learned) was one many would aspire to achieve with their own partner. In this behind the scenes I celebrate all the fathers on and off screen.
