Shino Hashimoto is a 21yearold rider from Tokyo, fighting to prove herself in Japan’s maledominated motorbike competitions through one of her proudest skills: cutting calls. By using the throttle and clutch of the bikes, she and other riders create modified revving sounds, which are loosely translated to "calls.” We follow Shino as she prepares for Q1, a classic competition among racing circuits, to learn more about what's behind the country's unique motorbike culture.
