Chrysler's RBody while attractive in today's world, was a complete failure to compete with the Ford LTD/Marquis and GM's downsized BBody with the introduction of the Caprice in 77'. Chrysler did not have the funds to create an entirely new platform so they used the BBody's architecture and came out with the RBody. On this platform, we have the St. Regis (Dodge), New Yorker and Newport (Chrysler), and Gran Fury (Plymouth). With its introduction, they did very well; however, over the course of the next 2 years, sales would drastically decline. The RBody was one of the worstselling platforms to come out of Detroit.
