00:58 10. Napoleon Fortress Napoljun
During the Napoleonic wars French built a fort on the top of the hill above Hvar town. Obviously it was named after the Napoleon himself. Today this is the seat of the Hvar Observatory and a place where you can get the most epic view of Hvar town and its surrounding islands.
02:00 9. Stari Grad Plain
Oldest cultural landscape on Hvar that has remained intact over 24 centuries that is part of Unesco World Heritage Sites. It was colonised by ancient Greeks and they started growing olives and vineyards that remained the same to this day.

One of Hvar's charming small towns with old churches and beautiful waterfront. Squares are surrounded by old stone houses and it is easy to find a nice coffee place or dinner while admiring the Seaview with nearby islands.

Despite modern tourism Hvar still has remote, small and picturesque villages that seems to be stuck in time. This village sits under the highest mountain on the island and is facing the sea. It has stone wall houses, a church, a school and mini market. Above the village are vineyards famous for its strong red vine called Plavac.
If you feel like exploring you can take a walk above the village where you will find a large cave opening with interesting old ruins of the 16 century monastery.

The oldest town on Hvar and possibly the oldest town in Croatia founded by the ancient Greeks more than 2400 years ago. It has magical squares, winding stone streets and beautiful waterfront. And it also has very interesting historical buildings like Dominican monastery from 14 hundreds and small renaissance castle build by famous Croatian poet.
08:28 5. Hvar fortress Spanish Fort Fortica
Fortress above the town built in 12 hundreds when Hvar came under the Venetian rule and became the main town on the island. The fort developed over time and it served as a shelter for towns population, when in 16 century the Ottoman army burned the town to the ground. The name of the fortress derives from the fact that it was mainly build by Spanish engineers.
09:50 4. Franciscan Monastery
More than 550 years old monastery is one of the finest buildings on the island. It was built by the Nobility and Sea Commanders as testament to their gratitude for many lives saved at sea near Hvar. It is still a working monastery with two monks, interesting small museum and great artwork.
11:05 3. Paklinski or Pakleni islands
Gorgeous chain of wooded isles that stretches out right in front of Hvar town. The name of the archipelago derives from word paklina, a melted down pine resin that was once harvested here to waterproof boats. Islands are a real magnet thanks to its many beautiful and remote coves, great beaches, bars and restaurants.

Hvar town is the true heart of the island that bears the same name. It is the capital and largest settlement with charming old stone streets and squares, amazing Venetian architecture and lively waterfront promenade strip. There is a good reason why there are so many exclusive yachts here.

The number one reason why people visit Hvar are its beaches and crystal clear blue Adriatic Sea that offers beautiful swimming experience.
