ThinkJSOU with Nicholas Eftimiades on PRC Espionage Methodology

In February 2024, Mr. Michael Parrott, JSOU Faculty, interviewed Nicholas Eftimiades. Mr. Eftimiades has over 30 years of government service, is a veteran of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency, State Department, and Defense intelligence agency. He is an author and renowned educator for his work concerning PRC intelligence operations. Nicholas is a current professor at Penn State Harrisburg University and founder of Shinobi Enterprises LLC, a company focused on countering China’s espionage, covert influence, and theft of technology, and trade secrets. Mr. Eftimiades is a globally recognized authority on Chinese Intelligence: Operations and Tactics. He authored books, reports, and numerous articles on China’s commercial and national security espionage methods in his book Chinese Intelligence Operations and in 2020, with Chinese Espionage: Operations and Tactics. In Nicholas’ recent publication by the Research Institute for European and American Studies titled China’s Espionage Recruitment Motivations – Getting Rid of the MICE, he proposes a new methodology for examining China’s intelligence recruitment motivations and tactics – the acronym BEWARE. Which brings us to today’s discussion on the PRC’s espionage methodology.
