Finding the right metal detecting location can sometimes be easy. If you see an old house it's a pretty safe bet that there will be some period stuff in the area. But other times you really have to work the good spots. We heard from some of the locals that there may have been a really old house "somewhere over yonder" as they point out to a what seemed like a never ending field. Pretty vague coordinates as you can imagine but hey, it's still a clue and a good starting point so off we all went. We found an old map that showed the partial remains of an old colonial stagecoach road so we were using that as a starting point. We all spread out and walked, and walked, and walked... following where we thought the old road may have been. After what seemed like miles we finally started seeing clues of what may have been the old house scattered on the ground; small pieces of red brick, broken pottery, and our machines were picking up rusty square nails so we knew we were getting close. Once we tightened up and zeroed in on the spot, the awesome finds were just everywhere! This is only part 1 of what becomes 3 trips back to this long lost location and each trip landed us better and better finds!
