When Pete Watts bent over to pick up a pair shoes and felt a twinge in his back, he knew something wasn't right.

The next morning, he lost function below the waist and was rushed to hospital with the message: "lie still otherwise you're going to be paralysed for life".

After emergency surgery, he was told he had Cauda Equina Syndrome. SIA has supported Pete ever since. This is Pete's story.
