Watch more from our series How We Die, where we look at a subject many of us don't like to talk about and the people doing things differently around endoflife care and funerals https://bit.ly/2UEc6Q2
‘Heaven’,‘ holiday’ and ‘bit of a party’ are not the words or phrases that immediately spring to mind when you think of a hospice but they've all been used by staff and patients to describe St Joseph’s in east London.
From the outside, this Hackney institution could be mistaken for any old building but on the inside it is as bright and diverse as the multicultural community it serves.
The hospice strives to keep life as normal as possible for patients, with services including an inhouse hairdresser, acupuncturist and even a drinks trolley.
