This is what training to FAILURE looks like.

Question, shouldn’t sets that are taken to failure look like that, and by that he meant this, in which case, no, a set to failure should never look like this, but rather something like this. That’s because training to failure is not an excuse to use improper technique, in fact this is where you really need to dial in and make sure that your form stays consistent, since these reps are the ones that elicit the most muscle growth. And if you allow your form to break down, you’re just taking away the tension from the target muscle and allowing other muscles or even momentum to compensate, which just creates a lot of additional fatigue with very little hypertrophic benefit.

So regardless of how difficult those last few reps get, always make sure to utilize the exact same technique and tempo as you did with your first, with the only exception being the speed of your concentric. That means, you should still be controlling the eccentric, the change in direction and using a full range of motion, the only thing different is the fact that you're lifting the weight up slower. Obviously there should be some visible struggle on those last couple reps, and maybe that means your form gets a little wobbly, that’s perfectly fine, just make sure it isn’t excessive and you’re actually making a genuine attempt to minimize as much form breakdown as possible.

I hope that helps and subscribe for more lifting tips! #Gym #Shorts
