The song starts in 7/4 but evolves through various timesignatures with beat displacement and superimposed signatures. Based on a 3 over 4 polyrhythm, the prechorus and chorus sections are built around a melodic descending phrase played over four Rata Toms with the feet filling in groups of 2 notes bridging pedals, and 4stroke rolls between Gong Drum/Snare Drum accents, marking the downand upbeats of the superimposed time signature. In the guitarsolo sections, Lang superimposes 3 over 4 in a sequence of 4/4 and 7/8 time signatures while executing a polyrhythmic, melodic left hand pattern over 4 Rata Toms, downbeats on his Gong Drum and a challenging, mixed noterate footpattern which is orchestrated over his kick drum and doubleHiHat pedals, creating a complex masterpiece of a contemporary beat design.
