Spine Health Exercises: Thoracolumbar Fascia Stretch Supine

Thoracolumbar Fascia Stretch
Supine on floor or training table.
Hips and knees flexed, feet flat on floor.
Arms out to 90 degrees of shoulder abduction.
Keep scapulae on floor and rotate spine to one direction.
Hold a mild stretch in posterior oblique sling.
Move contralateral shoulder to 120, 150 and 180 degrees of abduction.
Hold a mild comfortable stretch at each angle.

Thoracolumbar Fascia (TLF) AKA Diamond, Thoracolumbar Diamond and Posterior Oblique Sling.
Big sheet of fascia.
Multiple directions of fibers.
Strong and semielastic.
Muscle attachment site for Transverse Abdominis, Diaphragm and Internal Obliques.
Contralateral Gluteus Maximus and Latissimus Dorsi connect through Thoracolumbar Fascia to form Posterior Oblique Sling.
Three layers: Anterior, Middle and Posterior. Anterior is thinnest. Posterior layer is thickest.
Spaces exist between each layer. Quadratus Lumborum is located between the anterior and middle layers. Erector Spinae is located between middle & posterior layers.
