THIS VIDEO: In this video I’ll look at the work of three photographers who’ve developed a dreamlike aesthetic. Photography is a still medium – The essential purpose of the camera is to accurately capture the scene that is in front of the lens. But these photographers choose to transform the outcome in a painterly manner. Unlike the Victorianera photographers who were attempting to match their work to the painting aesthetic – these photographers are exploit the mechanical limits of the camera in order to take advantage of visual effects like movement and blur. Instead of creating informative documents – they purposely mute much of the secondary detail making the viewers task of extracting meaning more illusive. The three photographers: Olga Karlovac, Igor Posner and Alexey Titarenko
