Two friends set out to thruhike the Appalachian Trail.

Three years ago I set out to thruhike the Appalachian trail. Armed with roughly 10lbs extra baseweight of camera equipment, I sought to capture the journey so I wouldn’t have to rely on just a fading memory to look back on. Like most things in life, it didn’t seem to go as planned. Not knowing what to make of the footage that was captured, it gathered dust for the past few years. But every year in early spring, at the beginning of hiking season, my nostalgia for the trail makes itself known. This year felt like the right time to dust it off and try to piece together a story. So here it is. Hoping this story can resonate with past and future thruhikers looking to discover or rekindle a connection to backpacking. Happy trails.
