A surprise trip to the Bodmin Railway. Surprise because I expected to film two steam tours visiting Exeter. But following a landslip near Honiton tunnel, I was unexpectedly available to hear the thrash of five diesels on the B&WR. The star of the show was visiting mainline Class 50, No. 50008 ‘Thunderer’, a name the loco certainly lived up to. The other visitor, courtesy of the Helston Railway, was Class 10 D3489 ‘Colonel Tomline’. They complimented the home fleet, comprising of Class 50 No. 50042 ‘Triumph’, Class 47 No. 47306 ‘The Sapper’, and Class 121 No. 121020 ‘Bubblecar’. The gala featured services trains, goods trains, and CDA’s. The turnout was impressive; I’d never witnessed crowds for a steam gala as large. In still autumn sunshine, shots were taken at:
