I have been a falconer for many years and this is the best not that I have used or seen demonstrated. Please USE green 30 to 40 lb test Trilene XT plus a light enough weight on the trap that the trap can be dragged in order act as a shock absorber rather than a sudden stop. I also take a waterbased dye stain that is gray or brown and spray, the line because it is a little bit fluorescent. I do not use a as a binder with the dye. A binder is some thing such as a finish that can be mixed into the water base die, so that it sticks better. The stain becomes a powder again when it hits the line so I have to redo it once in a while. If you don’t spray the dye to camouflage the line, then the color will shine in a fluorescent way and will definitely cause the hawks to take a second look and decide whether he wants to put the trap.

This video is a very detailed description of how to tie what I consider the perfect knot for a BC trap. I spent a long time perfecting this noose. The directions have to be followed exactly as I demonstrate in the video. For the very best results use fluorocarbon hybrid fishing line which I pasted below otherwise the knots may slip or come loose. (linked below) Please let me know if you have suggestions or improvements that can be made to tie the knot and especially to tie it to the trap. I wish I had YouTube when I started hawking in 1982! Happy hawking!
