Tifway 419 is a fine textured, deep green Bermuda grass with low seed head production. This proven turf is the most widely used Hybrid Bermuda in the South for golf and sports fields and is equally comfortable for home lawns and commercial landscapes.

Requiring full sun, frequent mowing and regular fertilizing to perform at its peak, Tifway 419 is as tough as it is beautiful and has been the most popular sports turf for over 40 years.

Tifway features a dense, rapidly spreading growth habit, giving it a quick recovery from injury and making it one of the most durable hybrid Bermudas on the market today. Its disease resistance and ability to withstand low mowing heights, make it perfect for use on fairways, roughs, sports fields and commercial and residential applications.

Characteristics
Tifway grows best in warm climates within 45 degrees latitude to the equator and can tolerate temperatures in excess of 100 degrees F. The turf will become dormant after winter frosts but will recover quickly when temperatures warm in the spring.

Watering & Drought Tolerance
Tifway is well adapted to ‘gray’ water sources and can survive droughts with minimal water availability. Depending on the application, one to two inches of water per week is needed to provide an acceptable turf surface, but it will survive at 1/2 inch irrigation per week, depending on the soil.

Tifway provides some of the best recuperative rates of all warm season turfgrasses and is a vigorous regenerator.

Weed Tolerance
When properly maintained, Tifway’s dense growth efficiently competes with many weed varieties and tolerates broadcast application of selective herbicides.

Soil
Tifway grows best in soil with a pH between 5.5 to 7.0. Phosphorous levels of 100 pounds/acre and potassium at 150 to 200 pounds/acre provide sufficient plant growth. Applying 1 pound/1000 sq. ft. of nitrogen per month will provide healthy plant growth.

Establishment
Tifway hybrid bermudagrass is a sterile Triploid plant species, a vigorous grower and thus establishes quickly. It is best installed by sodding or sprigging.

Mowing Height
Mowing heights of 1/2 inch to 1.5 inchs create a dense, cushioned canopy allowing excellent tolerance for wear and tear.
