Timelapse of the Revitalization of Banff Centre's Donald Cameron Centre

Donald Cameron Jr. was instrumental in creating Banff Centre in the 1930s. Cameron served as our director from 1936 to 1969, and eventually, our Administrative Building was named after him in his honour.

When plans to construct a new building to accommodate administration staff were initially included in Banff Centre’s 2006 revitalization project, the decision was made to renovate Smith Hall to combat rising construction costs.

By opting for renovation rather than constructing a new building, Donald Cameron Centre (DCC) needed to be raised three feet to align with the previously planned development. The project was awarded LEED Gold for reusing existing infrastructure, utilizing regional building materials and sustainable certified wood, and functioning as a water and energyefficient facility.

The revitalized DCC opened in June 2010. Enjoy this timelapse captured of the exterior process.
