To win more construction bids, you first must change your mindset. Think about the job from the owner’s or General Contractor's perspective. What do they need to see first and foremost?

It isn’t price. It’s that you can actually do the work.

Show your track record. A list of projects and reference letters are great, but why not take it to the next level with some videos of the work you've done before? Show the level of detail that you go into.

Show your strategy. Walk them through how you prepare your staff, how you've taught them and trained them, how your safety measures protect their project as well as your team. Give them the certifications that your employees and your team earned to make sure your team is ready to do that job, ready to perform it well, efficiently on schedule, but also in the most safe manner possible.

Show your math. When it comes to the price of your bid, the more detail you can put together and the more you can show your process, the more you tell that owner or GC that you know exactly what you are doing as a construction business owner. You know the details matter.

Your bid should set the standard for what a bid supposed should look like to that GC and owner. The details will separate you from the competition.

When you submit a bid that is more organized, more strategic, and more transparent than the competition, you show that you are confident you can do this job better than anyone else. That confidence is contagious — and the owner or GC is likely to catch it. They can see that you can perform the work at the right price, and that is a winning bid. When you project that confidence, and show the work to back it up, you are going to win more construction bids. You are going to win a lot more than you lose. No doubt about it.
