Tongli Ancient Town (同里古镇), located near Suzhou (苏州) in Jiangsu Province (江苏省), China, is a pristine example of a traditional water town. Known for its beautiful waterways and wellpreserved architecture dating back to the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Tongli is a window into China's rich past. The town is crisscrossed by fifteen rivers divided by ancient stone bridges, among which the most famous are the Ternate Bridges, symbolizing good luck and longevity.

Visitors can explore a variety of attractions including the Retreat & Reflection Garden (退思园), recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This meticulously designed garden offers a tranquil escape from the bustling city life, with its ponds, rockeries, and classical pavilions.

Tongli also boasts a unique cultural heritage, seen in its traditional performances such as the boat songs and the art of storytelling and ballad singing in the Suzhou dialect. The town's narrow alleys lined with old shops selling crafts, local snacks, and silk products give visitors a taste of local life.
