Autumn is the season of colors. It’s the time when the green leaves start to turn yellow, orange and red before they eventually fall. This happens during October and November in Switzerland. The Top 10 Places to be visited in Switzerland during Autumn are different kind of places that people would see during Summer. The Crestasee is a hidden gem in the village of Flims in the Canton of Graubünden. It’s a small lake that remains rather unknown up to this day as its bigger brother the Caumasee is a lot more famous. The Crestasee can be best reached by mountain bike or else by hiking. The vineyards of Ligerz along the shore of Lake Biel are a true gem of nature. The area is perfect for hiking and in particular very beautiful during the later afternoon when the vineyard leaves start to glow in their golden color. The raw and mystical valley called Val Bavona is a perfect place to be visited during Autumn, even when it rains! There are many small villages with traditional stone houses The villages of Foroglio, Sabbione and Ritorto are certainly worth a visit. With the many colorful leaves of the trees and the stone houses, the Val Bavona is absolutely beautiful during Autumn. Autumn is a very festive season with a lot of traditional events being held. They mostly all take place during September, there are wine festivals, autumn festivals and alpine descents (cow parades) that are held everywhere across Switzerland. Alpine descent is the time when the farmers bring back their cows from the Alps. The Berschnerfall is a wonderful waterfall in the canton of St. Gallen that is embedded into a colorful forest, and thus a perfect place to be visited during Autumn. The waterfall can be reached by an easy hike, once arrived there, there might be many falling leaves. The Val d’Hérens is one of the most beautiful and hidden gems of Switzerland. During Autumn, the colorful forests at the lower altitudes and the many larches at the higher levels invite you to explore the best of Fall season in there. See the pyramids of Euseigne of the bluest of all blue lakes the Lac Bleu of Arolla. A very charming hike through a miraculous and colorful forest can be done at the Gorge de l’Areuse in the canton of Neuchatel. The hike is very scenic, there are many colorful trees, waterfalls and great photo spots. The hike is easy and free, perfect for budget travelers. The Lake of Saoseo is considered the most beautiful lake to be visited during Autumn Season. This lake is incomparable. The striking blue color, the green spruces, golden larches and snow mountains match just perfectly. The lake can be accessed by a 2 hour’s hike or by public bus. The bus however only uperated until the third weekend in October. The Albula pass is one of the most scenic pass roads and very beautiful when the larches glow in golden color and the entire landscape is blessed with fresh heavy snowfall. The pass road leads along the Swiss train line of the Rhaetian railways. Along the passroad there will be very beautiful impressions with the trains crossing the bridges as well as many beautiful spots at where the golden autumn meets the Winter Wonderland. The Lavaux is the most beautiful region to be visited in Switzerland during Autumn. The vineyards will glow in golden color and nicely contrast the blue lake Geneva and the snow mountains of the Alps. There are many villages to be visited like Epesses, SaintSaphorin or Rivaz as well as the Château de Chillon. The most beautiful time is during sunset, lake Geneva is just perfect for that, the vineyard leaves will first glow in golden color and then shine in a striking red tone.
