Sweden is an expensive country to visit, and Stockholm is the most expensive city in Sweden. This is a list of the top 10 completely free things to do in Stockholm!

Stockholm has gorgeous nature, an exciting history dating back to the 1200s, and lots of free culture to explore. In this list I'm including a wide range of experiences, for all seasons, and for all kinds of visitors.

The places included in this list are:

Visit Östermalmshallen, a lovely food market
Explore the island of Långholmen, which used to be a prison island
Attend open sessions at Parliament or just enjoy the view
Kungsträdgården has events and shows and lots of things to enjoy all for free
The island of Royal Djurgården is gorgeous. Don't miss the Rosendal Castle!
See the world's longest art gallery...in the form of the Stockholm subway art
Check out all the free museums at Skeppsholmen, such as the Museum of Modern Art. Or just walk around and see all the historical boats anchored here
Marvel at the 18th century Drottningholm Castle and its surrounding garden
Pay a visit to the Medieval Museum...without paying anything at all
And finally, find out all there is to see in Stockholm Old Town. Such as Sweden's smallest public monument, or Sweden's oldest public toilet
