This year was a huge year for the local dining scene. Dozens of local restaurants opened, expanded and grew this year, keeping foodies busy with the latest and greatest options. Of course, you can’t ignore the classics, but keeping tabs on what’s new can certainly be a lot of fun (and delicious).

In our annual poll, our readers cast their votes for their favorite new restaurants of the year and in first place was Speck Italian Eatery. Speck opened up Downtown in February (after relocating from Delaware) and has quickly become a hotspot for lunches and dinners alike. The main draw on the menu are the scratchmade pastas, but don’t skip out on salads, soups and desserts which are all top of their game as well.
