With a much lighter and simpler construction than regular helicopters, ultralight helicopters are commonly bought as hobby kits for recreational purposes. But nowadays, flight schools are also using them as teaching tools that can provide basic training, particularly for military, police, and civilian pilots, at a greatly reduced cost. Their cheaper purchase price and operation, however, come at a disadvantage, especially when it comes to their limited range and load capacity. Of course, not everyone can fly ultralights, but if you are handy and have the skills and technical knowhow to build and maintain these exciting aircraft, then the sky is literally the limit.
