These emotions direct Riley's mind into a headquarters, where basic memories define her personality. Riley's basic memories are all happy and feed the five islands of personality: Family, Honesty, "Stupidera," Hockey, and Friendship. Joy and Sadness are catapulted into longterm memory, where they find a way back. They try to wake Riley up with nightmares, but they fail. Anger insinuates the idea of running away to Minnesota, leading to the collapse of the Family island. Joy and Sadness return to headquarters, and Sadness removes the idea of escape. Riley's parents comfort her, and Joy allows the birth of a new Basic Memory, allowing her to rebuild the Family island.
