Torn shoulder labrum? RUN FROM THE SURGEON...unless you have no other option.

Most shoulder labrum issues can be resolved without the use of a scalpel. And when I say ‘most’ I mean more than 90% of them.
.
The labrum is this cartilage ring that runs around the edge of the glenoid fossa to snug up the joint and provide an anchor for some of the muscles of the shoulder.
.
Now, all of that is fine and dandy, except the one drawback of the labrum is that it is virtually avascular, meaning it has a very limited blood supply.
.
So now you have a labrum injury, and some surgeon goes poking around in there creating even more trauma for your already limited healing ability.
.
Here’s an easy way to explain it.
.
It takes longer to heal from the labrum surgery than it does to heal the shoulder with aggressive rehab and direction.
.
Limiting movement and hoping for something to heal is like going to bed alone with a condom on, pointless.
.
I have an entire protocol for a torn labrum, however, this quick series is a great beginning.
.
This is a great way to engage reflexive reaction and stability, and work through basic support movement.
.
1⃣ Pronated Floor Sweep: 3 sets of 10 slow reps.
2⃣ Plank Hop: 3 sets of 10 reps.
3⃣ Banded Serratus Press: 3 sets of 10 reps.
4⃣ Double Banded Vee: 3 sets of 10 reps.
