Early on Tuesday morning, February 7th, I drove back out to the Salton Sea area along the UP Sunset Route. It was a pretty good day out there. I started with a manifest with a bunch of brand new auto racks. I caught two ex. SP C44ACMs still with flashing ditch lights leading on ZLAMN2 and MRVEP. Next I start racing an intermodal back west and caught two more eastbounds including a local (probably running from Indio to El Centro). I got in front of the westbound near the Salt Creek Trestle. Later a CSX Tier 4 led an empty auto rack train past Mortmar. It was kinda windy that day but that did not stop the action to my knowledge.
