The old man took the pills and he got well. Compound (conjunction 'and')
The old man got well because he took the pills. Complex (adverbial clause of reason)
The old man got well when he took the pills. Complex (adverbial clause of time)
The old man who took the pills got well. Complex (adjectival clause )

2. Blinded by anger, father tore the will. Simple
Father was blind with anger so he tore the will. Compound (conjunction 'so')
Father tore the will because he was blind with anger Complex (adverbial clause of reason)
Father who was blind with anger tore the will. Complex (adjectival clause)

3. Driving home, he stopped to drink tea. Simple. (driving and to drink are not verbs)
He was driving home and he stopped to drink tea. Compound (conjunction and /so)
He stopped to drink tea when he was driving home. Complex (adverbial clause of time )
He, who was driving home, stopped to drink tea. Complex (adjectival clause)
