CMC

Ajax is a town in Durham Region located along Highway 401. The main transportation hub in Ajax is located at the Ajax GO Station, which is served by GO Transit's Lakeshore East line.

Ajax Transit began service in 1973 under a contract with Charterways Transportation Limited, which operated service using a fleet of school buses. By the end of the decade, the town brought the operations inhouse. In 2001, Ajax Transit and the neighbouring Pickering Transit were amalgamated into the Ajax Pickering Transit Authority (APTA). In 2006, APTA was amalgamated into Durham Region Transit along with the other municipal transit services in Durham Region. A bus facility is located ajacent to the train station.

In 2023, Durham Region Transit lost several of its transit buses in a fire at the Oshawa Bus Garage. Several TTC buses have been leased to Durham Region on a shortterm basis.

Of note, many routes in Durham Region interline and buses may be found on multiple routes over the course of the day.
