Sonic first made his debut in the Super Smash Bros. series in Brawl and while it was very exciting for many people to see him in Smash, he had a mediocre start to say the least, being a lower mid tier with an underwhelming moveset, both in terms of aesthetics and functionality. Sonic's Up Smash in particular wasn't just mediocre and underwhelming, it was downright terrible.
