In this episode, I look at doing a light restoration of the VIC 20 purchased in the previous video. The aim is to ensure this historic computer is safe to operate, cleaned, serviced and ready for many more decades of use.

Will I be able to get it looking and operating like NEW again?

Additional Retrobright Tips
1) Thoroughly clean plastics before using Hydrogen Peroxide. Any dirt or previously applied solutions like plastic protectant WILL cause a marbling effect.
2) Remove metal badges using a hairdryer and pin lifting labels from an edge. Keep the label as flat as possible when lifting it up.
3) The diluted Hydrogen Peroxide solution (seen in this video) may take several days to achieve a result. The water needs to be warm. Check on the progress every 30 minutes also ensure the plastic remains under water.
4) Results using the above method may not be perfect. For example heat damaged spots may not lighten as much as UV damaged areas. In which case, use cream Hydrogen Peroxide (40 Vol 12%) applied evenly to the plastic. Wrap the case in plastic wrap, and place in direct sunlight for 23 hours.
5) Don't be afraid using sandpaper to even out surfaces and remove the shine from the front part of the breadbin case. Ensure you wet sand using 400600 grit paper in circlular motions across the affected area.
