TRAVEL INSURANCE NEWS UPDATE 2021 If you never thought of travel insurance as something you really needed to pay close or any attention to, that should change as of today. People are starting ask the question Do I Need Travel Insurance? YES!

There have been several changes to your travel insurance policy over the last year and a half (and I'm sure there will me more to come.) But for now, let's take a look at some of those changes. You will be quite surprised at how they are starting to come back to the Prepandemic days. And we need this, so that we can start to travel with Peace of Mind.

Update #1: New Emergency Medical Insurance COVID19 Benefit*
Adding a new medical coverage benefit for COVID19 to the Traveller Emergency Medical Insurance plan, up to the policy limit. This will only be applicable to travellers who have followed the COVID19 vaccine protocols outlined by their provincial/territorial Health Authority before leaving on their trip, and:
Have been partially vaccinated, at least 14 days before departure
If available to them, they have received or scheduled any subsequent doses of the vaccine
Note: Coverage is also provided if they aren’t yet eligible for a vaccine due to age.

Update #2: New COVID19 Insurance – Unvaccinated Plan

Travellers who haven’t been vaccinated for any reason other than their age, can still opt to have COVID19 coverage when they purchase a COVID19 Insurance – Unvaccinated plan with a TuGo Emergency Medical Insurance Worldwide or Excluding USA plan.
The updated plan has a new name and an increased maximum benefit to $1 million.
Other benefits available with the previous COVID19 Insurance remain the same, including trip interruption.

Update #3: Trip Cancellation & Trip Interruption Insurance or Trip Interruption Insurance Only

As the Government of Canada’s response to COVID19 continues with travel restrictions and quarantine measures, #tugo goal is to be more transparent with coverage. We’ve updated Exclusion #7 to outline as clearly as possible that there is no coverage for any claims directly or indirectly related to COVID19, coronavirus 2 (SARSCoV2) or any mutation thereof.

These updates are reflective of the TuGo Travel Insurance company. However, it will not be long before other insurance companies follow suit. So check with your insurance provider to assure that you have the right protection for your Travel Insurance needs.
