The evening cultural program held on 29/ 12/ 2023 is one of the various programs on the occasion of the 150 years of Jaynagar Majilpur Municipality.
A few days later, it was the birth centenary of Hemanta Mukhopadhyay, the proverbial idol artist of India born in the neighboring village of Jaynagar named Baharu. Remembering his birth centenary the municipality organized a colorful music program based on the subject Hemanta Mukherjee. Eminent artists like Arundhati Holme Chowdhury and Sivaji Chatterjee paid tribute to him in words and songs, along with some of new generation singers.

Eminent music director and artist Santanu Basu planned and conducted the entire program on the special request of the Chairman of Municipality, Hon'ble Mr.Sujit Sarkhel.

This step of Jayanagar Majilpur Municipality to lighten the 150 years will be considered as an ideal example of nurturing a healthy culture.

Through this program not only the songs or music of legendary Hemanta but from the beginning of his musical career to after crossing fifty years of musical career, his priceless feelings has brought together by Santanu.
The most remarkable thing is all the resources about the same are in Hemant's own voice.

Here people also will get the perception of legends like Lata Mangeshkar & Manna Dey about Hemanta Mukherjee, in their own voice.

In a word, this program is not just a 'Musical Jalsa'. Rather, this program is a very valuable document about the heritage of Bengali music.
