The Best Airborne Company Ever!!! From 1962 to 1968, the Panamabased 3/508th Infantry served as an Airborne Battalion within the 193rd Infantry Brigade in Panama. When the Airborne component of the battalion was reduced to ONE Airborne company (A Co., MOATENGATORS) in 1968, the battalion was reflagged as the 3/5th and later in 1983, as the 2/187th. Jump status was later expanded to the entire battalion. In 1987, they were reflagged as the 1/508th.
