Triceps Tendinitis recovery exercises for elbow pain - How to Strengthen the Triceps Tendon

The triceps are a group of three muscles that go from the shoulder and shoulder blade to the elbow. These muscles are primarily responsible for elbow extension. The long head of the triceps brachii is also responsible for shoulder adduction and extension.

As with all tendinopathies, triceps tendinitis is an overuse condition that occurs most typically in the distal tendon. The area that tends to be affected most is the musculotendinous junction this is where the muscle turns into tendon. Due to overuse, pathologies in the triceps tendon can cause pain during activities like the bench press, triceps extensions, or any other push based activity.

As a tendinopathy, the hallmark sign and symptom is pain after exercise (lasting more than 2 hours), decreased pain during activities (due to the warmup effect of tendons) and increased pain the morning after strenuous activities. This tends to occur as the tendon attempts to recover through an inflammatory process.

This video will go over why the muscle may have been overused and solutions to recover from this injury. We also cover home based exercises to strengthen the triceps that uses your body weight as resistance . Easy to access tools like the strength band is also used to assist in strengthening the triceps tendon.
