Trigger point therapy for long head of biceps

Follow
Stuart Hinds Academy

The pseudo trigger point in the long head of biceps is a great indicator or shoulder irritability. You'll often see it as part of your treatment sequence for frozen shoulder, rotator cuff syndrome, and other impingement syndromes.

To treat the long head of biceps you want to start by locating the pectoralis major tendon attachment, then roll off onto the sub scapularis. Use your forearm to slowly engage the tissue. It's a good idea to just rest your forearm on the tissue for up to thirty seconds just to get the client used to the pressure. This means they will provide less resistance once you start actively engaging the tissue.

Adjust your position until you locate the sweet spot. Feedback from your client is invaluable here, as the actual irritability point varies from person to person. Watch for resistance from your client this is your cue to back off.
