Defending her Colorado State Chili Championship title, we ventured to Grand lakes again this year in hopes of taking home the win, but problem after problem reared it's dreadful head at every turn.
Years ago when we cooked almost every weekend it was a routine, almost like clockwork.
Being we now only partake in chili cookoffs twice a year, things get forgotten or left behind.
First, I forgot to pack a can opener and a pair of scissors. Next, I did not bring the right amount of tomato sauce. On top of all that I did not set my meat out and it was frozen solid right before it was time to start cooking.
The thing about chili cooks are, they are very friendly and helpful even though we are competing against one another. I was able to borrow what I needed to get through.
