Good morning and happy Tuesday. Yesterday, Baton Rouge reached a high temp of 97 degrees. Some parts of our viewing area received rain while others did not. That will be the same case today as we’ll have scattered showers and thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. This morning, we’re dry like yesterday morning, but again, showers will develop and move through later today. Any rain in our area will clear out this evening. Today's highs will be in the mid to upper 90s. Heat indices will be around 105110. A heat advisory will be in effect from 10 am until 7 pm. Drink plenty of water and stay in the shade or AC as much as you can to keep cool. Don’t forget to give your pets fresh water and keep them inside because it will also be too hot for them. Later this week, we’ll have slightly cooler weather due to an increase in cloud coverage and rain coverage. A weak cold front will move south, but likely stall out over our area. A stalled front will contribute to on and off showers and thunderstorms continuing for a couple of days. Rain chances will remain elevated not only for the end of the week, but also this weekend and possibly early next week too. This will help high temperatures to be a little lower. Highs will be in the low and mid 90s on Thursday and near 90 for Friday and this weekend. Overnight lows will still be in the mid and upper 70s throughout this week. Showers will occur on and off from the morning through the night hours for Thursday through Sunday. Heavy downpours at times is a possibility. Even if you’re not looking forward to a couple of days of rain, at least this will give us a slight cooldown. Tracking the tropics: No tropical development is expected over the next 7 days. There is enough Saharan Dust in the Atlantic Basic to inhibit tropical activity at this time. Thanks for watching. Have a terrific Tuesday!
