Turning the Behringer Kobol Expander into a Horror Drone

The Kobol Expander is a something I've been curious about for a long while. Considering that it's a wildly rare synth with used prices ranging upwards of 5k+ for ultra wealthy collectors, I figured it was never anything I'd ever get to see let alone work with.

This is the kind of Behringer project I can get on board with. Basically resurrecting an unobtainable piece of synth history and making it affordable for common synth folk.

The Kobol Expander is super cool, though very quirky, weirdly limited in ways, while tremendously versatile in others. If it had variable waveshape LFOs to match the oscillators, it would be a dream monosynth.

This is just an extended drone piece using the main oscillators as the drone and the LFO as a sort of undulating voice on top. I don't know how interested anyone is in this sort of thing, but I thought it was neat.

Honestly, when I started this channel, I treated it as a bit of a video diary for all my various synth noodling, just sharing things I thought were cool or might be of interest to others. As time went on and a few videos really took off and the channel grew, I became more selfconscious about the stuff I was posting, worrying if it would put off new subscribers or if it was really worth sharing.

I think I want to get back to just posting whatever odds and sods I'm interested in, not worrying about the algorithm or whether it will resonate with a large audience. Just posting weird synth stuff that might be of interest to someone on the internet somewhere.

As always, thanks for listening!
