Wow, I have never experienced anything so incredibly hard and incredibly beautiful. The long climbs were hard but the whole day was punchy and unrelenting up and down. Altitude is no joke. Hiking up to Delano my heart rate felt like I was running a 5k.

My finish time was 11 hrs 45 min. 15th overall, 11th male. About a 16:04 pace. Some fast times out there, a new course record was set in 8:46. About 43 miles and 13,000 ft of gain. Going in the race my A goal for time was sub11 hours, my Bgoal was sub 12.5 hours and my Cgoal was to just finish.

I had a really low spot from miles 1422. Went out way too hard, paid for it on the descent from Delano. Was getting overheated and really didn’t think I could finish. Took 25 minutes at the mile 22 aid station to cool down, eat and drink, and finally had some legs under me again. The rest was slower bu steady.

What an incredible race, so hard and so beautiful.
