Yo I was supposed to make a tutorial with pictures but later in the process I realized a video was alot better (and easier to do for me).

I also realized (after watching Mr. Rousakov's video) that there was a faster AND easier way of doing it than the way KTM tells you to do it, by removing the inner hub and the basket by holding the clutch pack together with 4 bolts etc.

With this method (the one shown here) it is impossible to bend a steel disc when putting everything back whereas, with KTM's method, it can happen.

Like I said this is quicker AND easier, best of both worlds.

Why in the world would you need to remove the inner hub or the basket?

1) If your hubs are grooved (sounds funky) or have big marks on the splines (where the discs slide), you'll need to remove them all in order to refine all the irregualities, with a file for exemple.

2) 2nd possibility could be that you need to replace your retaining tab lock by the one sold by CJ Designs for exemple.

Remember this was a source of engine failures on 2014 or 2015 690 SMCs and ENDUROS, the tab would break, then the nut would come loose.
As it is retained by the pressure plate, it would dig through, and all the particles of aluminium would finally end up in the oil screens, filters and your oil pumps, leading to severe engine damages.
Replace it before it is too late!

In the video I didn't lube the friction plates (depending from where you come from) that much because they were alreay in the engine 10 minutes before.
I just replaced my steel discs as the friction plates were within the tolerances.

If you put new ones you'll have to soak them in engine oil.

One last thing, try to sand grind the steel discs and the hubs with 80 grade sanding paper if it still slips, or add preload washers under each spring.
This is also a common problem with 690s and 701s.
