Ukrainian fighters usually fly low to avoid detection from groundbased radars, but now A50 flying at higher altitudes can easily spot them. This new tactic is proving deadly for Ukraine as Russia manages to shoot down 7 Mig29 aircraft's on 20th Oct in a single day. With this new tactics S400 is more lethal as its radars are turned off meaning the antiradiation missile launch is not possible as they home on the radar waves of enemy radar. In addition, the locking wavelengths of A50 aircraft were not detected by Ukrainian Radar warning receivers. Considering it a normal lock the Ukrainian pilots avoid responsive maneuvers; they were unaware that the enemy A50 is providing information to S400 battery and its missiles. The target data including its altitude, speed bearing and location is provided to the missile and once the missile is near the target its own onboard radar seeker takes over and hit the target. With this new integrated air defence technique Ukraine losses are comparatively higher. Although, The Ukrainian pilots are training on F16 aircraft provided by NATO. But before they arrive to Ukraine the air environment seems to be complex and posse’s serious challenges to Ukrainian air force.
