José was an electrical engineer, he declared himself an atheist and a closedminded skeptic when, at the age of 46, after a work accident, he was administered medication to which he was seriously allergic in the emergency room. That mundane mistake completely changed José's life, as the reaction to the medication severely damaged his lungs and he had to return to the emergency room, where he remained in a coma for 5 minutes. There he experienced a journey that shattered his materialistic outlook and any belief in "science" he had clung to.

José's life changed radically as a result of this neardeath experience. He suffered a long and grueling physical and emotional recovery, and spent years receiving psychological counseling to try to reconcile what had happened to him. He met the IANDS and finally accepted its experience and his new life path. He began creating art to share his experience and as a form of meditation.

José developed the innovative mindfulness practice, Inner Immersion, designed to help others shed the layers that prevent them from connecting with their true self, without words or dogma. To date, José has worked with over a thousand people with the Inner Immersion Modality and has had success working with addictions, PTSD, releasing blockages and trauma, as well as in the fields of personal development and transformation.

José's transformational "ascension" art has been exhibited in galleries throughout the United States and Canada. His work is part of private and corporate collections around the world and in permanent installations in the prestigious collections of the Cleveland Clinic, the Nicklaus Dan Marino Children's Center in Florida, and other healing centers in the United States and Canada. His limited edition book, Ethereal, is a collaboration with celebrated Canadian printer and book designer Robert Reid. Ethereal offers the reader a vision, through the art and poetry of his wife Anastasia, of the ineffable world beyond the veil.

José has cofounded Immersive Arts, a collaboration of art and design professionals to deliver focused, calming experiences in institutional and corporate settings, while providing the platform for deeper quantitative research into the impact of art on health outcomes and welfare. José is also the cofounder of Consciousness Café, a space to explore consciousness and some of the BIG questions, find resources and a likeminded community.
