Unboxing Testing and Reviewing the St. Croix Triumph Travel

While I love all my St. Croix rods, I needed something that was going to be a little easier to travel with than my large one piece rods. I decided to pick up the St. Croix Triumph Travel Ultralight rod (TRS56ULF4). After testing it out for a day on a local lake, I've got to say that it is an excellent choice for an all around ultralight rod. I would rate the power of this rod as a true ultralight. You can enjoy fighting the smallest fish without feeling like you're over powering them. The fast action I believe is more of a moderatefast. The tip is a bit softer and "whimpier" than I would've liked. As a result, this rod isn't the best for jigging. It takes too long for this rod to return to a stable position after you twitch the tip to make it an effective jigging rod. However, for any kind of moving lures such as inline spinners, beetle spins, and any hard body lures, I think this rod is great for that. Overall, it is a great choice for a "do it all" type of rod where you can fish a multitude of baits in a multitude of areas.
