~ Some confusion hangs over this group and it's track here 'blackbird'...in '66 ian bruce douglas tried to form a band in cape cod massachusetts with his friend steve cataldo which fell apart almost immediately but with another musican friend skip tull and barbara hudson (and others) ventured into local studio's 'AAA studios in dorchester' to lay down four demo tracks...of those four three came out on the c.d.compilation 'new england teen scene unreleased' arf arf records 1996. from where i have taken this track....the fourth 'moon dogblues / night owl blues?' was later seen on another comp....the confusion comes from several sources who say the demo's were done by the flegling 'ultimate spinach' which was : ian bruce douglas/barbara huson/geoff winthrop/jeff cahoon/richard nese & rounded out by drummer keith lahteinen...but....on the blues track you can hear a shout out for steve (cataldo?) to take it away steve! i wish brucedouglas was a bit more forth coming in interview's about these demo's! i myself believe they are 'skip tull & bruce douglas with barbara hudson' with later demo's of the early lineup of ultimate spinach carried out at 'patrucci & atwell studios' and once alan lorber heard them he decided to record the band and add them to his roster of boston bands....cataldo would go onto 'the front page review & saint steven'....the link below is for interviews with some of the bands that were involved in the bosstown sound with ian bruce douglas!
